As you all know, this summer I was chosen as a Fierce Forward Ambassador and joined the 150 Days of Fierce Forward Challenge. The premise of the challenge is to set goals, push your limits and step out of your comfort zone.
One of my goals was to run more, so in June I registered for my first 5k race. With my husband and dad by my side, I finished the race with a smile. I wasn’t focused on PR – I was just happy that I showed up, and saw it through.
After the race in June, I registered for another 5k – the Toronto Women’s Run Series. This time, I invited my friend Serena to join me. I was realistic and didn’t expect great results, as I slacked with my training schedule the last few months. But I was determined to go, run as much as I could, and cross the finish line.
It was a beautiful, crisp, sunny Saturday in Toronto – perfect running conditions for this time of year. We were pleasantly surprised with our time; and despite the shin splints and knee pain, we made it 🙂
The #150daysoffierceforward challenge isn’t about winning. It’s about making commitments and sticking to them. Whether it’s a fitness goal, learning something new or making life changes – the challenge encourages us all to show up. Show up for others and most importantly, for ourselves.
I’m looking forward to rounding out the home stretch of the challenge as the new year approaches.
